Polyurea Lining Solutions for Culverts and Infrastructure

Superior Grouting provides Polyurea Lining solutions for CULVERT REHABILITATION.  With quick cure times, the ability to conform to the host culvert geometry, no VOCs, solvents, or styrenes, the spray applied linings offered by Superior are an excellent environmentally friendly option for culvert protection and/or rehabilitation.  Our spray applied lining systems from Nukote have exceeded AWWA’s M28 lining standards for all classes including fully structural Class IV.  This makes them an ideal solution for areas that are load bearing or where the culvert has corroded and is failing – in most cases it is far more cost effective to rehabilitate than to replace.  Nukote’s patented composite lining technology is an excellent fit for protecting newly installed culverts or to rehabilitate older ones.

Liner Product Technology

The Nukote Aegis® System combines ultra-fast elastomeric product chemistries with Nukote 360 Ringtech® robotic application equipment to provide cutting edge solutions for both renovation and construction of liquid containment and distribution systems. The solution is spray applied in a composite of two products, delivering the physical properties required in underground pipe and culvert rehabilitation. By composite we mean two distinct products with different properties, applied robotically and monolithically (no layers).

The required high ring stress, derived from the structural portion of the composite

High erosion/impact resistance, derived from the elastomeric portion of the composite

Fast cure, allowing for light traffic in 1 minute and back in service immediately

No VOC/ 100% solids

Completely inert. Can be disposed on in a common landfill

4-5 second gel/30 second tack free allowing both forward and reverse application at high builds

ANSI-NSF approved on most product used Fast track installations without excavation and minimal disruption to traffic flow

360Ringtech® robotics quickly deliver consistent liner thicknesses

360Ringtech® robotics are controlled remotely

360Ringtech® robotics expedite project delivery

360Ringtech® robotics significantly reduce confined space manpower costs

Features and Benefits

Superior Grouting Spray Liners utilizing Nukote Aegis ®, differ depending on the effluent type, abuse levels, abrasion, ground movement, substrate condition and other design variables. The application processes are similar, the liner formulation utilized is variable.  Liner formulations are interchangeable dependent on the effluent, providing versatility unmatched by conventional liners. The Nukote 360 Ringtech® robotic application process is identical, simply changing the elastomeric product utilized allows for use in all possible effluent types

Suitable for all substrate types and conditions

Lower costs compared to conventional liner system

Offering solutions from basic anti-corrosion to full structural

Applicable in pipe, vaults, tanks, basins and manholes

Suitable for use with all effluent types / multiple liner variations

Direct to substrate, not grouted, minimizing flow reduction

Capable for pipe diameters from 24”/ 0.6m to 160”/ 4.1m

Installs robotically reducing; excavation, traffic control, HSE

450’ / 350m of reach from access point to access point

FAQS

There are many variables to consider such as: diameter of pipe, volume of material required, size of annular/annulus space, degree of inclination, size of staging area for grouting equipment and a number of other factors. Typically, Superior Grouting pumps distances ranging from 100 Lineal Feet to 2,000 Lineal Feet. In some specific applications, we have pumped material over a distance of 5,000 LF (~1 Mile).

There are a number of considerations. One critical factor is there is a limited amount of time to place the material required for any given distance. The number of access points is determined by the diameter of the pipe, length and volume of material.

No – the general contractor prepares the pipe for the grouting procedure by installing the injection/vent pipes, the grout plug and any other requirement necessary for the pressure grouting procedure.
